Hypomineralization affects the outer layer (enamel) of your child’s teeth. The hypomineralization of the molar-incisal enamel (MIH) is defined as a defective development of the dental enamel which affects at least a first permanent molar, but can also affect the anterior teeth. Defects in the maturation stage of amelogenesis result in a normal volume of enamel but insufficient mineralization, called hypomineralization.
